BALANCING THE CHAKRAS
With Essential Oils, Crystals, Color, and Sound Healing
What are Chakras?
Chakra is a Sanskrit term meaning “wheel of light” – swirling energy. There are seven main physical chakras in the body – the Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Brow, and Crown chakras. There are also transpersonal, or spiritual chakras with the Earth Star chakra below the feet, and the Higher Crown, Soul Star, Divine Creativity, Soul Portal, and Galactic chakras overhead. Today, we will be focusing on the physical chakras and bringing them into balance.
Chakras are shaped like spirals, the point of the spiral rooted in the central nervous system at the spine, through channels known as “nadis”, and the vortex or wide part of the spiral facing outwards from the front and the back of the body. These “nadis” then connect to a vertical power stream in the spine known as the “Sushumna.” Chakra energy flows like a never-ending river attracting other energies in the universe. When these chakras are aligned and this power current is connected to the Earth below and to Source above the body can receive life giving energy and life guiding information. The chakras also radiate information out to the universe through the skin. Chakras maintain the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of our being, and they regulate the organs and endocrine glands in their vicinity. They also can record a memory and store it.
Each chakra vibrates at a different frequency, measurable by color and sound. The lower in the body it is, the slower the vibration, the higher in the body, the faster the vibration. These frequencies are seen as color starting with infrared, then in the lowest part of the physical body – red, up through violet in the body, and ultra-violet beyond. Chakras vibrate between 100 to 1,600 hz.

Healing Practices
There are many ways to balance the chakras and bring healing. Since the chakras resonate at specific frequencies, frequency can be used to bring them into balance – with color, essential oils, crystals, and sound healing techniques. There are other modalities such as meditation, connecting to nature, yoga, and breathwork that assist you in clearing blocks and energizing the chakras as well.
Healing with Sound:
- Singing bowls – Each chakra corresponds to a specific singing bowl frequency. Play the bowl next to the chakra.
- Tuning Fork Therapy – Tuning forks calibrated to specific frequencies can be applied near the chakra, and is good for clearing any blocks and restoring energy.
- Mantra chanting and vocal toning – chant bija mantras (Lam – Aum) to stimulate and activate the chakras. Vocal toning helps release stagnant energy and aligns the vibration frequencies.
- Gong baths and sound baths – full-body immersion in a sound bath allows all chakras to realign. Gongs produce powerful harmonic frequencies that penetrate deep into the energy body.
- Solfeggion frequencies – Solfeggio frequencies are a series of musical tones that have been used for centuries, particularly in sacred music and Gregorian chants. These frequencies are thought to resonate with the human body and mind, promoting healing and spiritual growth. The origins of these frequencies can be traced back to ancient practices, where they were believed to impart spiritual blessings and enhance meditation experiences.
Healing with Essential Oils:
The human body’s normal vibratory range is between 62 – 68 mhz. and is considered in a state of health. But energy disturbances in the subtle bodies will precede the appearance of disease and illness in the physical body, causing the body to go “out of tune”, especially when experiencing physical or emotional stress. A blockage of the flow of life energy – characterized by inflammation, irritation, and illness can result. When the human frequency range drops below the norm of 62 mhz, this is when abnormal processes can begin to develop. When disease and illness are present, they may manifest as chemical imbalances. But underlying this is an electromagnetic imbalance that has altered the specific vibrational frequencies within the body. When you retune the body back to its harmonic resonance – illness either doesn’t manifest or is resolved. The measured frequencies of essential oils is generally very high – ranging from 52mhz (Basil oil) to 320 mhz (Rose oil).
Use of essential oils:
- Topically – The essential oil with its designated frequency can be used topically on the skin with a carrier oil such as coconut, jojoba, or sweet almond oil.
- Inhalation – essential oils can be placed in a diffuser
- Add to bath – add essential oils to a handful of Epsom salts and mix together, then add to warm bath water. Epsom salts will also detox the body.
- Massage – use essential oils with a carrier oil such as coconut, jojoba, or sweet almond oil while massaging.
Healing with Crystals:
Crystal healing utilizes the unique vibrational frequencies of crystals to promote physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being by interacting with the body’s energy field – aura. Crystals emit specific frequencies due to their structured atomic arrangements. When a person’s energy is disrupted due to stress, negative emotions, or illness, crystals can help realign and harmonize their energies restoring balance. The gifted qualities of each crystal can help with the chakra issues as well. For instance – the nurturing comfort of Rose Quartz can help heal the Heart chakra, the ability to dispel negative energies of Black Tourmaline and ground can help the Root chakra. Hold the crystal in meditation, or place them on the chakra.
Healing with Color:
The vibrational frequencies of color can be used to balance and activate the chakras. For instance, someone who is having emotional trauma (excess orange in the Sacral chakra) can have blue channeled (Throat chakra light) into that chakra to calm emotions and give an outlet for expression. Also, if someone is a work powerhouse, a boastful workaholic (excess yellow Solar Plexus chakra) may need the Violet (Crown chakra light) to bring in intuitive wisdom, inner vision of truer self-image to bring balance. Color can also be brought in through clothing, color in the home in décor and objects, and the color in your food.
Meditation:
Focus on each chakra during meditation, visualizing its associated color and energy.
Yoga:
Specific yoga poses can target different chakras, promoting energy flow and balance. Poses like the tree pose for the Root chakra or heart-opening poses for the heart chakra are beneficial.
Breathwork:
Incorporating breathing exercises can help release tension and promote relaxation, increase the flow of energy, and aid in chakra healing.
Nature Connection:
Spending time outdoors and being mindful of your surroundings can help you ground and balance your energy, as well as connect to the healing frequencies in nature.
